Schedule & Location:
This is a full-time, non-exempt position based onsite in Norwood, MA. Standard work hours are Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM. Occasional flexibility to work outside of regular business hours may be required based on operational needs.

Eligibility: Applicants must live within 50 miles of our office in Norwood, MA.  Relocation is not offered for this position  

Additional Requirements:
A valid driver’s license is required


At HBRE, we are looking for a dedicated Facilities Engineering Supervisor to join our team!  

The Facilities Engineering Supervisor provides direction, administration and coordination of operations staff and contracted personnel for a designated facility or portfolio. Provides input for departmental budget and capital planning, oversight and scheduling of maintenance, work orders, repairs, and projects. Manages personnel and contracted vendors supporting operations at Hobbs Brook Real Estate's Norwood Campus which consists of office, medical, hospitality and lab facilities. Responsibilities include oversight of operational MEP systems including HVAC, building automation, electrical, plumbing, general maintenance, fleet vehicles, and building and grounds personnel and contractors.

Responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Manages Facilities staff. Coordinates training and staff development evaluates employee performance and makes recommendations accordingly. Conducts regular team meetings to review operations, ongoing projects and select capital projects.

  • Participates in the planning and administration of operating budgets. Reviews prior expenses incurred and proposed projects and improvements to prepare current year re-forecasts and future budgets.

  • Drives utility use reduction and cost savings initiatives to align with industry best practices and HBRE sustainability and environmental initiatives. Implements dynamic HVAC schedules to reduce demand when applicable and documents verified energy reductions through metering portal.

  • Manages, maintains, and coordinates hazardous waste removal as well and hazardous waste disposal site receipts. Maintains all records such as health and state licensing, records of contractors, employees, hygienist air sampling reports.

  • Contracts, manages and documents all pressure vessel testing. Ensure all OSHA regulations are upheld.

  • Perform review of blueprints and equipment selections with consulting engineers, contractors, and construction personnel to assure proper equipment is selected for all proposed tenant renovations, and provide recommendations on changes prior to  construction start. Tracks facility, operations, construction and renovation projects to ensure standards are met, and attend project meetings to address any problems that may arise during construction. Prepares job specs and consults on the selection of project contractors.

Qualifications

Experience & Technical Expertise

Minimum of 8 years of experience in a commercial or industrial facilities environment.

In-depth knowledge of electrical, HVAC, plumbing, and controls/automation systems.

Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to understand, troubleshoot, and work with mechanical systems and tools.

Experience maintaining a laboratory environment is a plus!

Leadership & Team Management

  • Proven management skills, including the ability to lead, support, and provide constructive feedback to a team of up to five direct reports.
  • Experience in performance coaching, goal setting, and fostering a collaborative and high-performing team culture.
  • Ability to mentor and develop junior team members.

Interpersonal & Organizational Skills

  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively interact with managers, team members, contractors, and tenants.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks in a dynamic environment.

Technical Proficiency

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).
  • Comfortable using digital tools and systems to support daily operations.

Physical Requirements: Ability to lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds as part of regular job duties.

Education

Technical trades or Facilities training.

Active MA Refrigeration or Journeyman Electrical license strongly preferred

The hiring range for this position is $103,040 to $128,800 annual. The final salary offer will vary based on geographic location, individual education, skills, and experience.
