Location and Schedule: This is an exempt, full-time, office-based position in Sao Paulo. There is flexibility to work from home 1 day a week depending on business needs.
Domestic Relocation within Brazil is available.
This role will have occasional travel to corporate headquarters located in Johnston, RI.
Testing: Candidates will be required to pass an English assessment.
Manages preparation, filing, settlement and defense of tax returns for subsidiaries of FM to meet the direct and indirect tax requirements, in the LATAM region. Manages the specialist tax areas, overall tax compliance, and the maintenance and development of processes and procedures related to tax requirements for all legal entities. Engages in tax planning activities to minimize tax exposure and reduce audit risk. Recommends tax policies and ensures enacted policies are followed. Identifies and implements regulatory changes. Supervises most tax computations, prepares complex tax calculations, and assists with modeling exercises.
Establish tax requirements for new international business entities making sure that requirements are understood that new entities are correctly set up in the financial system, and that appropriate contacts are engaged to ensure compliance with FM policy, as well as relevant laws and regulations; may include liaison with tax authorities to understand requirements, respond to inquiries or resolve processing errors.
Oversees preparation of local tax provisions and tax returns. Responsible for reviewing and approving. Ensuring that returns are timely, accurate, and compliant with applicable laws and regulations. Responds to inquiries or resolves escalated issues as required to ensure that deadlines are met via an efficient and effective process; identifies systemic issues or inefficiencies and proposes new processes, procedures, or system changes to enhance effectiveness or prevent future issues.
Participates in interdisciplinary finance project teams to develop or enhance systems, processes, and protocols as the tax specialist within business unit. Includes contributions to requirements gathering, planning, testing, Documentation, implementation, and training phases. Acts as tax resource to other areas including Global Mobility, Benefits, Payroll, Underwriting and Finance.
Ensures transfer pricing requirements are met and appropriate documentation is in place.
Ensures comprehensive understanding of tax rules in region. Identifies potential tax risks as well as opportunities. Develops strategies and presents to management.
Managing and reconciling tax accounts in financial statement and general ledger.
Support tax audit defense. Attends tax related meetings, formulates appropriate tax arguments, provides support, makes recommendations, as appropriate.
Other Duties as assigned.
7+ years of Tax experience required
Experience as a CPA is a plus!
Experience within a Big Four and/or multinational corporations experience is preferred
LATAM Tax Experience
- Deep understanding of LATAM tax regulations, especially in Brazil and Mexico
- Familiarity with withholding tax regimes and cross-border tax structuring
- Experience in local tax reforms (e.g. Brazilian Tax Reform) is a nice to have

Education
4 Year bachelor’s degree in administration, accounting, finance, or tax preferred
Equivalent Tax and accounting experience considered
